This interactive session will address strengths, obstacles, and strategies for success in multi-disciplinary, multi-site research. To address these issues, CRN Scholars will present two to three case studies, based on their own experiences with research in the Network. A panel of seasoned CRN investigators will comment on each case study, drawing lessons from what went well or badly, and then invite members of the audience to contribute. Scholars will be prepared to comment on lessons from the research literature on cross-disciplinary, cross-site projects. During the session, we will keep a running record of the menu of possibilities raised for avoiding or solving problems and achieving success. A moderator will summarize lessons learned at the end of the session. |

Early career investigators make significant contributions to the HMORN, making them one of the network’s greatest assets. The Network is committed to the success of young investigators through effective mentoring, access to local and shared data sources, cross-and site collaborations. The purpose of this plenary is to recognize and showcase the work of four exceptional early investigators. These investigators were selected by a competitive process that included a review of their current research and biosketches as well as statements from their mentors. |

This annual presentation is delivered by the current Chair of the HMORN Governing Board. The Chair will provide an overview of the current "state of the Network" with a particular focus on new directions, opportunities and infrastructure being developed by the HMORN to provide administrative and research support to members of the HMORN who wish to find collaborators at other partnering centers or to prepare collaborative proposals. The annual presentation also provides an opportunity for the Chairperson to report the results of the daylong meeting of the Governing Board which occurs the day before the annual meeting. The presentation will be followed by an open session for discussion and possibly a reactor panel to discuss emerging topics such as policies being considered to support our Virtual Data Warehouse (VDW) efforts. |
