Collaboration Toolkit

The Collaboration Toolkit provides investigators and their research teams with tips, tools and resources to plan and carry out multi-site research within the HMO Research Network (HMORN). It was designed to meet the needs of new and seasoned investigators alike and is based on the collective experience of several successful Network collaborations.

Content is organized into 5 chapters. The Table of Contents below outlines the major content of each chapter.

If you already know what you are looking for, the Index of Linked Resources offers quick access.

For investigators who are new to HMORN multisite research, the Toolkit is intended as a comprehensive guide to the practical steps and strategic considerations involved in a multisite project. We encourage anyone who hasn't participated in HMORN collaborative research to review the Toolkit in detail. The content is organized parallel to the life cycle of a project and includes information about:
  • Finding collaborators and developing a grant.
  • Working through administrative start up processes.
  • Standardizing recruitment and primary data collection across sites.
  • Utilizing the virtual data warehouse (VDW).
  • Closing out a project and translating results into practice.

    Table of Contents
For investigators who have experience with HMORN multisite research, the Toolkit is probably most helpful as a repository of resources, from which you can download boilerplate, templates, forms, tools, and contact information that will facilitate planning and implementing a collaborative project, including:
  • Proposal development resources.
  • IRB and subcontracting resources.
  • DUA toolkit and contact directory.
  • Detailed information about the VDW, links and resources.
